R&D Background & Product Positioning

FORESEEN OPTICS has long provided custom LPVO design and mass-production services for global brands. We are fully aware of the key limitation of LPVOs: limited objective lens size and low-light performance make them lose significant operational or hunting value in low-light conditions.

When our thermal imaging team was formed, a very clear idea came to Michael’s mind:

to design a front-mounted thermal clip-on that works with LPVOs, letting users keep their usual LPVO workflow while gaining thermal imaging advantages at night.

In early R&D, the main challenge of front-mounted thermal solutions was being too heavy, which on AR-style rifles often affected balance and handling. In December 2024, we achieved a breakthrough in making key thermal components smaller and lighter. After a year of iteration, this 220 g, LPVO-specific front-mounted thermal clip-on was officially completed.

Functionally, we fully understand that a front-mounted thermal must accurately show target thermal information without changing the target’s relative position — a principle called co-axiality in engineering. This is the foundation for a front-mounted clip-on experience that is aimable and repeatable.

Product roadmap:

  • Currently released: entry-level 256 × 192 version
  • Next releases: 384 × 288 and 640 × 512 versions, to fit different LPVO levels and cover tactical use, nuisance animal control, and night hunting.

Thanks to our hardware and software expertise, we added recoil-activated recording function, helping users capture key moments. We also look forward to developing more software features and brand-specific functions with LPVO brands and channel partners.

In most cases, re-zeroing is not required.

The clip-on alignment is achieved through co-axial image adjustment, not by altering the LPVO’s zero. During calibration, the thermal image is micro-shifted in the X/Y axes so that the target maintains the same relative position as the LPVO reticle.

Calibration workflow:

Enter Calibration → Freeze Image → Select X / Y → Fine-tune with + / − → Save to Profile.If the LPVO, mounting solution, or attachment position is changed—or after repeated detach/reattach cycles—a quick co-axial verification is recommended.

Yes. Shortcut button controls are provided:

  • +/− buttons: Adjust screen brightness
  • Function button: Switch thermal color palettes (White Hot / Black Hot / Pseudo-color, etc.)

Adjustments can be made without navigating menus.

To ensure uninterrupted observation and aiming during hunting, automatic NUC (Non-Uniformity Correction) is disabled by default to avoid frequent shutter interruptions.

When ambient temperature changes significantly or internal temperature drifts, image contrast may gradually decrease and appear softer or “gray.”

Solution:

Press the NUC button to manually recalibrate. Image clarity and contrast will be restored within seconds.

Customization is supported with tiered access based on order volume, ranging from rapid private labeling to deep joint development.

Common customization options include:

a. Branding & Appearance: Logos (housing, buttons, nameplates), boot and shutdown screens, housing colors and surface finishes, exterior details (button feel/placement, laser markings)

b. Packaging & In-Box Materials: Retail boxes or gift boxes, manuals, stickers or hang tags, accessory kits, barcodes and compliance labels

c. Structure & Interfaces: Mounting bases (dovetail / QD / Picatinny etc.), protective components, sunshades, cables and external interfaces (if applicable)

d. Software & Functions: UI language and branding, button logic, display mode combinations, recording logic (auto-record strategies), Wi-Fi / APP functions (future), and evaluation of exclusive feature requests

  • Level B – Appearance & Interaction Customization: Exterior details + UI / button logic + preset parameters
  • Level C – Deep Co-Development: Mechanical interfaces + firmware functions + dedicated version management

Automatic recording consumes significant power and is therefore disabled by default.

It can be enabled easily with a clear on-screen indicator confirming activation.Video files can be exported to a computer using a Type-C data cable.
